Ryan Gosling: 'Blue Valentine' Sex Scene "Felt Real"

Producers of Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams' new movie, Blue Valentine, had to battle to get an R rating for the intense flick about a struggling married couple. Originally stamped with the dreaded NC-17, Gosling says the scene in question only ruffled feathers because of its authenticity.
"The sex felt real -- it wasn't sexy or 'a sex scene', and that's why we got into trouble," the actor told the U.K. Guardian. "You shouldn't be penalized for doing a good job."
Williams also opened up about their bedroom antics and told Reuters that she's very proud of the oral sex scene.
"I thought, 'I've never seen that before in a movie and I'm proud to be the first. Good on us for making that happen,'" she said. "As the woman in the situation that was in question, I found absolutely nothing scandalous, tawdry or disgusting about it."
The couple's on-screen connection was so believable that rumors have been swirling for months that the actors are dating off-screen. Though both have been coy about their real-life relationship, Gosling admits that it was difficult to just turn off his feelings for his costar when the cameras stopped rolling.
"Most movies when you're acting you're trying to block out the lights and the trailers. Here, you had to remind yourself you were making a film," he said. "Michelle and I found it hard to take off our wedding bands when it was over. We'd built this castle and then had to tear it down."
