Paul Walker Says Brazilian People Were 'Excited' To Host 'Fast Five'

'I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured,' he tells MTV News.By Kara Warner

For those heading to the theaters this weekend to see the action-packed, souped-up-car-gasmic "Fast Five," there are only a few things you should know going in: The cast is teeming with members from all four previous films (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris are all back) and the movie was filmed all over the world, including in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Georgia and California, but mainly in and around the illustrious city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — including the storied and dangerous favela districts.

When MTV News caught up with Walker, we asked him how the crew managed to get clearance to film in such tough areas.
"That's the best part about the job, is we have a VIP card," Walker said of the production's exempt status. "For most people, especially the tourists, the favela is off limits, but we got permission basically from the drug lords to come up there and film," he revealed. "We got cops with us, but everyone knows the reason we're there isn't because the cops said, 'Go ahead and come up and in'; it's the cooperation with the drug lords."
Walker said he hung out with people from the area, as did the film crew, and everyone had a great time during the shoot.
"That's one of the best aspects of my job. I'm up there hanging out, and the people are friendly and I don't have anything to worry about. People are just excited we're there," he said. "I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured, but because we're here doing this, it made it all possible."

Dumb Celeb Quote of the Week: Christina Aguilera

And this week’s Dumb Celeb Quote of the Week goes to…drum roll please?! Miss Christina Aguilera! She redeems herself in an interesting caption about her unforgettable Super Bowl flub! And no Christina…we will not shoot you. Girlfriend was just caught up in the moment. Get her citation right here with the funny Ellen DeGeneres. Make no mistake, the singer who has been singing the National Anthem all her life, did forget the lyrics on such a memorable and serious note. “That night I knew I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question: In 2011, what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics?” Yes, I will agree with that statement. As Christina Aguilera sits down in a candid interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show with the comedian herself, she talks about her divorce, her new show The Voice, and her undeniable flub on the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this year. And no Christina, we aren’t going to shoot you for forgetting our country’s tribute! However, just like the singer said, she was living in the moment so I think we can spare her this time, right? Not to mention, she definitely has had a lot going on in her [...]

'Spy Kids 4' Inspired By Jessica Alba's Diaper Duty, Robert Rodriguez Says

'She gets to show the actual trials of dealing with a baby while having a career,' director tells MTV News.By Eric Ditzian

Jessica Alba in "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World"

Photo: Rico Torres/ Dimension Films

Over the course of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview Week, we've featured popcorn superhero flicks ("Captain America" and "Green Lantern"), hard-R comedies ("Bad Teacher" and "30 Minutes or Less"), rebooted franchises from the past ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Conan the Barbarian") and much more. But we haven't yet focused on movies aimed at kids.
All that changes on Friday (April 29). We'll be rolling out an exclusive clip from "Kung Fu Panda 2" this afternoon, and right now, we're bringing you an exclusive chat with Robert Rodriguez, the writer/director of "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World," the first film in the series since 2003. The new movie introduces new characters — including Jessica Alba as a spy mom — but also stays true to the original mythology and integrates familiar faces from earlier installments. In this way, Rodriguez told us, "Spy Kids 4" is not so much a reboot as a sequel with fresh talent.
In a wide-ranging conversation, he laid out extensive plot details, explained why these films continue to be appealing a decade after they were first introduced and the surprising (and kind of gross) inspiration that led to the movie, which hits theaters in 3-D on August 19.
MTV News: It doesn't matter if you're doing something like "Machete" or a "Spy Kids" movie, you've always got some tricks up your sleeve. How are you going to wow us with "Spy Kids 4"?
Robert Rodriguez: Man, I can't say everything just yet! There are going to be some things you'll see and go, "Hey, why didn't he tell me that?" You know, we did three of these movies, and then stopped because the kids were getting older. But families still come up to me and say they're watching them, so 10 years later, it felt right to do another one. I got the idea when I was making "Machete" and Jessica came over to my house for lunch with the kids, and she was bringing her daughter out of the backseat. But her diaper had exploded and the kid had made a huge mess and just seeing Jessica dressed up, so beautiful and glamorous, but having to deal with this baby with an exploded diaper, I just thought, "I'd love to see her as a spy mom." I wrote it around her and figured she'd have two new stepkids who don't think their mom is cool, but she's really a spy and their dad plays a spy hunter on a TV show and doesn't know his wife is a spy. There's a robot dog and a spy baby and a new villain, played by Jeremy Piven. And I was looking at my own kids and how quickly time is going by and how you wish you could freeze a moment, so the villain is the Timekeeper, and he is taking time from people and the world is getting faster.
MTV News: Amazing! All of this, born from one dirty diaper.
Rodriguez: That's the thing. Sometimes storytelling is very visual and it inspires you. Then you build and you build, and suddenly you have a movie you're excited to make. You forget it's the fourth one. Oh, and the original spy kids show up, and they're in their 20s. They're the older spies who are trying to reopen the spy agency, which got shut down because of budgetary reasons. Jessica plays Antonio Banderas' younger sister, so she's still part of the original family. She's the aunt of the original spies. It's not really a reboot, so much as a sequel with new kids. And the Timekeeper, he takes time away from you if you're not spending it with your family, because of a personal thing he went through. It's a pretty cool villain plot, because he's not really a villain. And Jessica is so awesome as the spy mom.
MTV News: Yeah, we just saw that first picture of her with the baby strapped to her chest, but she's still wearing her badass spy gear.
Rodriguez: Yeah, the badass spy gear! The opening scene is a flashback where she's about to give birth to the baby. The day she quit being a spy was the day she gave birth, so she's on her last mission, nine months pregnant, on her way to the hospital and still catching the bad guy. So she's repelling, sliding across the cars. Anyone who's been pregnant will tell you: "You're not supposed to do that!"
MTV News: We haven't really seen Jessica in a mature role like this, playing a mom. Did you have a sense that she wanted to take that next step in her career?
Rodriguez: Yeah, I think she liked the idea, because she got married young and had the baby young, so she was dealing with the whole baby situation when we had this idea. We thought it would be a perfect way to deal with what her life is really like, except in this, she's an ass-kicking badass. She gets to show the actual trials of dealing with a baby while having a career.
MTV News: Being that there's a connection between her situation and her character's, did she help build this character and pitch in ideas?
Rodriguez: Completely. She's very collaborative. She said, "I really want to be funny. I should do this, I should do that. I think when I'm with the kids, this is the kind of game I'd play with them." She really brought a lot to the table. She knows children and what would come off best for the character.
MTV News: You've got a lot of funny actors in this one, like Joel McHale.
Rodriguez: Joel McHale, he's awesome! He really is a scene-stealer. He brings you ad libs. Even if it's written, you look at the script and go, "Oh, he just made it sound funnier." Sometimes I'd tell him just the concept of the scene, and he'd ad lib 30 things and they're all funny. The hard part is figuring out which one to use.
MTV News: Do you see this as the start of a whole new trilogy?
Rodriguez: We'll see what happens with number four. I know they want to make more of them. The reason these movies do well is that there's not many live-action films that are very empowering to children. Parents could never understand it, but that's why Power Rangers are so popular — because there are kids beneath those suits. Kids like and support anything that empowers and supports them. It's a powerful idea to know you can be a kid but also a spy and you can strap on a jetpack and fly around the world and not have to have your mom drive you to the mall.
It's Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated films of the coming months. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "Captain America," "The Hangover Part II," "X-Men: First Class," "Cowboys & Aliens" and more.

Tom Felton Reveals 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Character Details

'People aren't going to be cheering for me in this film,' he tells MTV News of his role in the prequel.By Eric Ditzian

On Wednesday morning, Tom Felton walked us through "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" as part of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview. Now, Felton continues the season's blockbuster sneak peeks with his insights into "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," the new franchise film in which he stars, which both reboots the mythology and provides a prequel to the story first introduced in the late 1960s.
The new, Rupert Wyatt-directed film features James Franco as a scientist testing an Alzheimer's cure on our simian friends. But an unexpected mutation leads to a super-smart ape population, which spells trouble for the human race. Felton plays the son of the owner of a facility in which the apes — CGI creations based on motion-capture technology from the digital effects house behind "Avatar" — are kept. Calling us up from his home in the U.K., Felton discussed his favorite scenes in the film, what it's like to work with actors in mo-cap suits playing apes and how his character fits into the overall story.

MTV: There'd been basically radio silence on "Apes," and then photos and video started to roll out a few weeks ago, followed by the trailer, which got a very positive reaction.
Tom Felton: Yeah, through Twitter I could tell the reactions were good. And just my own reaction as a fan, when I see a trailer like that, I get very excited. I watched it a hundred times. The special effects are ridiculous. The first question when I showed it to my friends was, "Wow, how did they get the monkeys so well trained?" I'm like, "None of them were real!" It's quite weird to see so much CG effects in the real world, not some computer-generated world like "Avatar."
MTV: It was also nice to see the tone wasn't jokey but rather dark and serious.
Felton: It was quite dark. I love that. A lot of people, when you say "Apes," they think of Tim Burton's one and [think] that is what this one is going to be like. It couldn't be further from the truth. This movie is set in the world that we know, rather than some alien-like planet. It's not that it's scary, but it is so much more realistic. There's a real sense that it could actually happen
MTV: This is what would happen if you put James Franco in charge of a lab of apes.
Felton: Oh, you know it. You know it! All hell would break loose.
MTV: It must also be nice to see yourself in a movie without Draco Malfoy's bleached-blond hair.
Felton: It's funny you say that, because the first time we went out to Vancouver for the screen tests, they had me there in the outfit and [director] Rupert was like, "I like it, but you need blond hair. I need you to look Californian." I was like, "Seriously? Really?" He was like, "Yes!" And I was like, "OK, if that's what you want." Then he digged me in the ribs and [said] he was just winding me up. So we got off to a good start, me and Rupert. But he was the first one to say we want you looking as different as possible. That was nice, because he wanted me based on what he'd seen previously in "Potter" but also something completely different.
MTV: Is there one scene that you're particularly excited about?
Felton: There were so many. You know, I'm used to "Potter" secrecy, but this is even more so. They've got me under lock and key on this one. There's no book, so no one knows the story. I had some great one-on-one scenes with Andy Serkis, who plays the lead ape, Caesar. Those were amazing, because not only was he doing the body movements flawlessly, but also facial expressions and sounds.
MTV: Was it always guys in motion-capture suits or did you ever have to act opposite a tennis ball or the thin air?
Felton: It's such a strange system. They film it all with the stunt performers who have learned for six months how to move like an ape. It's actually quite scary, watching a dozen men bouncing around the room like apes. They'd film that three times, then we'd film one blank where it's just the humans, then they match up stuff. They have an army of guys with notepads marking all sorts of numbers and graphs and stuff. I don't know how they pull it all off in the end. It's crazy!
MTV: Tell us about your character. You play Brian Cox's son?
Felton: Yeah, when Caesar, our lead ape, gets too big for James Franco's character to look after anymore, they have to put him into a facility. Brian Cox, who plays my dad, owns it, and I work there. Needless to say, I'm supposed to be looking after the apes, but I really don't do that job very well. I don't get on well with them and I'm not that friendly with them. I'm kind of what instigates Caesar's revolt against humans. Before that, he only knew James Franco's character. He thought all humans were going to be friendly and nice. It's through my father and my character that he learns the perils of humanity and how bad we really are.
MTV: So, after Draco, you play another bad guy?
Felton: Well, he's not a good guy. People aren't going to be cheering for me in this film, either. It's villainy, but on a different level.

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2' Trailer: Experts Weigh In!

'I was excited that they gave away so much,' MTV News' Terri Schwartz says.By Kara Warner

Christmas came early for "Harry Potter" fans when the "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" trailer debuted Wednesday night.
Since we're fellow fans, MTV News wants to know what people think! Therefore, we sought out a few experts to chat about what they loved about the "Hallows, Part 2" sneak peek. (Also, for those who haven't read J.K. Rowling's epic final "Potter" book, beware of spoilers below!)

"I was excited that they gave away so much in the trailer," MTV News' own Terri Schwartz said. "Or at least so many little tidbits that fans will really get excited over."
"[My] overall impressions: very cool," MuggleNet's Andrew Sims told us. "One of the things that fans were looking forward to was the final battle, and they got a lot of it in this trailer."
"There were some characters in there that I was surprised they showed," Schwartz added. "They show us Molly Weasley in action, which is really great. We also see the statues in Hogwarts come to life to defend the castle."
"I'm surprised that they included a shot of Remus and Tonks," the Leaky Cauldron's Melissa Anelli said. "Because from all reports, that might be the entirety of Remus and Tonks. I'm really surprised they showed Snape at Godrick's Hollow. Really surprised by that; it's a huge spoiler."
Julia Hodges, webmaster of DanRadcliffe.com and RupertGrint.net, said she was excited to see a few fire-breathing dragons onscreen. "I think that's an important part of the series, because you see all these mystical creatures throughout the books and movies, but you've never seen anything of that magnitude."
In addition to the moments lifted directly from Rowling's book to the screen, our panel of "Potter" enthusiasts mentioned a few seemingly new scenes that appeared in the trailer.
"I'm unsure about [the scene that shows] Harry and Voldemort sort of hugging and then falling off a cliff," Sims said. "It's not in the books, so people were concerned what's happening there, what's going on."
"Obviously, it's not the same as the book; it shouldn't be the same," Anelli countered. "There are key differences to [the movie] that I'm sure fans will be fighting about until the end of time."
What did you think of the trailer? Too spoilery or just the right amount of plot teases? Tell us in the comments!

Christina Perri Was Always Late For Class, On 'When I Was 17'

'I almost didn't graduate because I was late so many days,' the 'Jar of Hearts' singer admits on latest episode.By James Dinh

Time is of the essence, and if there's one music superstar who learned that life lesson at a young age, it's Christina Perri. On this week's episode of MTV's "When I Was 17," the singer/songwriter recalls being late all the time for high school, which almost cost the future rock star her diploma.

"I remember when I was 17, I almost didn't graduate because I was late so many days," the "Jar of Hearts" singer recalls. "I had this 1981 baby-blue Monte Carlo ... but it was so old and awful and broke down all the time."
Perri's brother Nick admits that his sibling was a fan of the superstar lifestyle early on in her teenage years, saying, "She was all about rock and roll and she wanted a muscle car."
However, even behind the wheel of her dream car, Perri couldn't deny the less-than-stellar condition of the ride, which led to a number of tardy school days and eventually a little bit of trouble. "My mom wrote me a note one time for the little attendance nun that said, 'Pardon my daughter's lateness. It's her car, it didn't start this morning,' " she recalls.
With her mother's note in hand, the Pennsylvania native took advantage and made 70 photocopies for future use. "I gave it to the attendance nun, like, every day. She's like, 'Can you please get another car?' "
By the end of high school, Perri's attendance record had finally caught up with her. "In my senior year, I was late a day too many and then my mom found out about all the notes and she said, 'What do you mean you were late 70 days? I didn't write you 70 notes.' "
In the end, Perri escaped the consequences, but it was an extremely close call. "The little attendance nun just kind of erased that last day that I had because I had won her over and they let me graduate, but it was close," she says.
"When I Was 17" — this week featuring ?uestlove, Christina Perri and Vanessa Simmons — airs on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Elizabeth Banks Signs On To 'The Hunger Games'

Actress will play rose-haired escort Effie Trinket in the film adaptation.By Kara Warner

Last week's intriguing "Hunger Games" casting rumors are true! Elizabeth Banks has officially been cast in Lionsgate's highly anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling dystopian novel. Banks will play Effie Trinket, the intense, chirpy, pink-haired escort to District 12's Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Effie accompanies and helps prepare the teenagers on their fight-to-the-death journey.
The 37-year-old Banks last appeared onscreen opposite Russell Crowe in the thriller "The Next Three Days," and has a recurring role on NBC's "30 Rock."
She'll next be seen alongside Paul Rudd in the comedy "Our Idiot Brother." Banks' casting announcement leaves only a few more holes to fill in the ever-growing cast, with fans eager to learn who'll play the roles of Cinna, the stylist assigned to the District 12 tributes, and Haymich, the cranky, alcoholic, one-time Hunger Games champion from 12. Although reports surfaced late last week that John C. Reilly was in talks to play Haymich, we've heard that's just a rumor.
Banks joins previously announced co-stars Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne), along with Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi as District 11 tributes, Leven Rambin and Jack Quaid as District 1 contenders, and Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott for District 3.
Directed by Gary Ross and scripted by Billy Ray, "The Hunger Games," the first movie in a possible trilogy based on Collins' books, is expected to shift into production later this year. The film is slated to be released on March 23, 2012.
What do you think of Elizabeth Banks being cast as Effie? Sound off in the comments below!

Kids' Choice Awards 2011: The Show And Winners List

Russell Brand and Rico Rodriguez get slimed onstage during Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards

For 23 years, Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards has been an event in which celebrities can truly let loose. After all, it's hard to have an ego when you're getting covered in green slime or being inducted into the Arm Fart Hall of Fame (we're looking at you, Josh Duhamel).
Nick's 2011 awards show, which aired lived on the network Saturday from Los Angeles, kept with its tradition of stars finding themselves in some truly outrageous situations. Host Jack Black, who was at the helm for the third time (he last helped hand out those coveted orange kaleidoscope blimps in 2008), kicked things off with an over-the-top musical number. The funnyman, wearing a black leather jumpsuit with flames — the first of many quirky wardrobe changes — was joined by a group of dancers to perform his own rendition of the Black Eyed Peas' hit "I Gotta Feelin'."

Black then introduced the group, as the "Jack Black Eyed Peas," and joined them onstage for "The Time (Dirty Bit)." BEP, who later won the award for Best Music Group, then sang their next single, "Just Can't Get Enough."
The first award of the evening was given out to Johnny Depp, who won Favorite Movie Actor for his performance in "Alice in Wonderland." Depp, who emerged from backstage, told the kiddie crowd and voters it was "truly a pleasure to receive this award that comes from you guys. I appreciate it."
After apologizing for beating Black in the category, Depp told Nick viewers, "You guys are the future; take good care of us." The actor then proceeded to get in on the fun, sliming the group of young fans who stood at the foot of the stage.
Depp's stunt led to one of the evening's most memorable — and by far, funniest — moments when "Arthur" actor Russell Brand and "Modern Family" star Rico Rodriguez appeared onstage soon after to present the award for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie (the blimp eventually went to Eddie Murphy, who got the crowd to sing him "Happy Birthday," for his role in "Shrek Forever After").
Before Brand and Rodriguez could even begin their banter at the podium, the freshly slimed youngsters began throwing the green, gooey mess at the two stars. In response to the mayhem, Brand declared, "I'm never having children."
Brand continued, as he guarded Rodriguez from the kiddie coup, "I am English! I am your leader! You must not do this, I am royalty! You are all going to juvenile hall. You children are going to prison. You are bad children!" Brand, who is voicing a character in the animated feature "Hop," cried that the moment was not in the script, then joked, "Johnny, I wished you'd drowned them."
They weren't the only stars to get slimed during the broadcast. Heidi Klum, who almost took a spill thanks to her sky-high heels, got hit, as did Jason Segel, who received a slime slushie courtesy of Jane Lynch. Even Snoop Doog — who joined pop-rock group and Nick stars Big Time Rush for their song "Boyfriend" — got doused in the green stuff.
As Willow Smith performed her hits "21st Century Girl" and "Whip My Hair," the 10-year-old was cheered on by her dad, Will Smith, and brother, Jaden Smith, who were in the audience.
The final big award of the evening went to Miley Cyrus, who won for Favorite Movie Actress for "The Last Song." The former "Hannah Montana" star attempted to put gossip to rest during her acceptance speech as she thanked her family for supporting her career.
Cyrus will no doubt get fans wondering about the status of her relationship with "Last Song" co-star and on-again, off-again beau Liam Hemsworth, whom she thanked for "helping me make movie magic" in the 2010 drama.
The Big Help Award, which was presented by Rosario Dawson, went to singer/actor Justin Timberlake for his devotion to charities, particularly the work he does with Shriners Hospital for Children. In between cracking jokes about burping and getting the crowd to cheer if they had ever helped anyone, Timberlake took the time to tell his young fans, "Your heart is the most beautiful part, so don't forget to use it."
In addition to telling kids they can do their part to help, even with major issues such as the crisis in Japan, the star said something bound to make any adult watching elated: "Listen to your parents!"
Finally, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian hit the stage to help give away the last award of the night for Favorite TV Show, which went to the kid-friendly Nickelodeon hit "iCarly."
Black kept a high energy throughout the show, including some interactions with his "Kung Fu Panda 2" character, Po, — one of which featured a cameo from Britney Spears in a pre-recorded segment. He ended the evening with a slime battle between himself and Jim Carrey, who made a surprise finale appearance.

Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari Get 'Dangerous' For '30 Minutes Or Less'

'I never drive ever, so I've been given the opportunity and a cool car,' Eisenberg tells MTV News of his daredevil driving.By Eric Ditzian

Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari in "30 Minutes or Less"

Jesse Eisenberg is a crazy driver. That's practically all anybody could talk about on the Grand Rapids, Michigan, set of "30 Minutes or Less" last summer. Danny McBride expressed utter surprise that the soon-to-be Oscar nominee was such a daredevil behind the wheel. Director Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") was less enthused, concerned as he was that the star of his action comedy might not survive the shoot in one piece.
And Eisenberg himself? The guy couldn't have been more pumped to play, at least for a few scenes, something resembling an action hero. "I live in New York City and ride a bicycle, so I never drive ever, so I've been given the opportunity and a cool car," he told MTV News. "Every time I drive, I get yelled at by the crew, but the stunt drivers always wink at me and say, 'Nah, that was good, man. Keep doing it.' I've been subtly and subversively encouraged to be very dangerous in the car."

On the day of our visit to the set, Eisenberg and his cohorts weren't zooming around in cars, but had settled into a junkyard. The action, though, was no safer. For a full peek into what went down in there, you'll have to wait until next week, when we roll out our full set visit. But as we push forward with this week's Summer Movie Preview, we pulled out a snippet of our chat with Eisenberg and Ansari, plus an exclusive photo of the two guys doing some rather unconventional grocery shopping.
"30 Minutes" follows Eisenberg as a pizza delivery boy who is kidnapped by two hilariously incompetent criminals (McBride and Nick Swardson) and made to rob a bank. With a makeshift bomb strapped to his chest and time ticking away, Eisenberg enlists Ansari to help him accomplish the task. Their adventure, as the red-band trailer makes clear, lands them in some high-speed car chases. And, according to Ansari, the two actors liked the action so much, they're hoping to do more of it in the future.
"I don't know if it's premature to say that he's going to star in the reboot of the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise," he cracked.
"Yes, it is premature. We're in negotiations," Eisenberg responded.
Said Ansari, "Let's just go ahead and tell him. He's taking over the Paul Walker character, I'm taking over the Vin Diesel character. It's a reimagining, a reboot, whatever you want to call it. We're bringing the franchise back. It's gonna be in 3-D and all the movie seats are going to be changed into tiny cars and you can drive along with us."
Check out everything we've got on "30 Minutes or Less."

Brooke Burke Calls Chris Jericho's 'DWTS' Exit 'Very Sad'

'Dancing With the Stars' host recaps drama at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style party.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Chris Jericho has danced his final dance. On Tuesday night, the pro wrestler and his partner, Cheryl Burke, found out they'd no longer be in the running for the mirror-ball trophy on "Dancing With the Stars."
Shortly after the show, MTV News caught up with "DWTS" host Brooke Burke at the annual Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style party, where she weighed in on the elimination.

"The last two standing were Ralph Macchio and Karina [Smirnoff]. They had a little mishap [Monday] night, so they were sweating it out," Burke recalled. "It was very dramatic, and Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke, they ended up going home, and it was very sad. But at this point in the competition, it's so close. There hasn't been a consistent leader-board topper, and anybody could go at any time."
Burke said that sometimes things don't go as planned, but in order to win, contestants always have to be at the top of their game. "You can't always go out there and dance your best dance, but you have to, and this season because nobody knows who's going to make it all the way," she said.
"We're just a little past midway ... double dances and the teams dance start next week," she continued. "This is when it starts to get crazy, when everybody ups their game, which I love. ... It's week to week, and it's dance by dance. Everybody has their shining moment: Kendra [Wilkinson] had it [Monday] night."
Which is your favorite "DWTS" couple? Sound off below!

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha 'Till The World Ends' Remix Leaks

Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears' vocals throughout the song.By James Dinh

Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends"

Photo: Jive

Britney Spears isn't the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale's second single, "Till the World Ends."
The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the stars' websites.
Mixing the dance tune's original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: "A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin', but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain't talkin' poultry when I say this chicken's fried."
After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song's first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. "It's Britney, bitch. I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha!" the Young Money MC proclaims.
Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track's chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer's lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the "Till the World Ends" remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break.
News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted, "@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!"

Chiddy Bang To Drop New Mixtape During O Music Awards

N.O.R.E. is also releasing new music this week, in Mixtape Daily.By Rob Markman

Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege

Photo: MTV News

Philadelphia-based rap group Chiddy Bang are geared up and ready to go for MTV's first annual O Music Awards on Thursday. Not only will the group's MC Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for "Longest Freestyle Rap" during the online broadcast, but he and his bandmate Xaphoon Jones will also be releasing their new mixtape, Peanut Butter and Swelly, online for free at the same time.

"What I'm excited to do at the [O Music Awards] besides performing is that we're gonna use it as a platform to launch some new music," Chiddy told MTV News. "We haven't released music collectively, for a collective project, in a very long time. And so we just thought, what is the highest level that we can sort of reach for and have that coincide with releasing new music? Well, the highest level is trying to break a world record. Why not bring out a new mixtape when we break the world record?"
In order to break the record, Chiddy will have to rap continuously for more than nine hours to break the record currently held by Indianapolis rapper M-Eighty.
Chiddy Bang aren't the only ones dropping heat this week. Queens rapper N.O.R.E. released his N.O.R.E.aster EP on Sunday. The project features production from the Neptunes, Cool and Dre and Scram Jones and is anchored by the lead single "N.O.R.E. Shot Somebody."
Noreaga's tape also features audio snippets from last week's interview on New York's Power 105.1, during which the Queens rapper expressed his displeasure with Prodigy and his book, "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy."

'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' DVD Coming May 13

Bieber announces release date Wednesday on Twitter.By Jocelyn Vena

"Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" DVD

Photo: Paramount

On Wednesday (March 30), Justin Bieber shared with his fans the DVD release date for his flick, "Never Say Never." So, when will fans be able to experience Bieber in 3-D in the comfort of their own homes?
"So here is the big news they were waiting for me to announce to u once off stage ... Thanks to everyone for seeing #NSN3D around the world! so we are ... OFFICIALLY getting #NEVERSAYNEVER3D to Blu-ray & DVD May13th," he tweeted. "Preorder NOW."
He also had another special announcement for a few lucky fans who purchase a special version of the flick, adding, "And I'm signing some for my fans! #MUCHLOVE."
Aside from what fans already saw in theaters, the Blu-ray/DVD combo features a dance-off between Bieber and his crew, the full-length performance of "Favorite Girl," Bieber's team surprising fans with free tickets and a sendoff for JB's old swoop hairstyle.
Fans already came out to see the flick when it hit theaters in February, helping to solidify its status as one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time. This will mark the third release for the film, which hit theaters twice already.
Regarding the film's message, Bieber explained to MTV News, "People didn't really know, they didn't understand that I've been playing music ever since I was born, and it's always been in me. And this movie is really going to show that I'm not just some packaged thing that some A&R put together. It was actually just me living my dream and just making music.
"Fans will be really excited to see that I'm just a regular 16-year-old having fun, just living my dream," he said. "And it's possible for anyone to live theirs."
The film shows Bieber skillfully playing piano, drums and guitar. It is part concert film, part documentary, complete with interviews from some of the people closest to the teen phenom. It features cameos by Miley Cyrus, Usher and Ludacris, among others, in interviews and concert performances filmed at Madison Square Garden last year.

Justin Bieber Passes Michael Jackson's Box-Office Record

'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' has outgrossed MJ's 'This Is It' in U.S.By Gil Kaufman

Photo: Paramount Pictures

Michael Jackson may have dubbed himself the King of Pop, but the late icon didn't hold the box-office crown for long. Less than a year after the posthumous MJ documentary "This Is It" became the most successful concert-themed film in U.S. history, Justin Bieber is poised to snatch the mantle.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" has earned $72.2 million in domestic box office so far, passing Jackson's $72.1 million haul. And while Bieber has racked up those impressive numbers in just six weeks, he's got a long way to go before he laps the global receipts for the MJ doc.
"This Is It" has grossed $189.1 million overseas for a global total of $261.2 million. Music films don't typically play well overseas, and THR noted that "Never Say Never" has grossed a more modest $10.8 million overseas so far, with Paramount executives predicting that it could top out around $20 million internationally.
The impressive U.S. numbers were likely goosed by the re-release of the film recently with 40 additional minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu. Bieber still has a little way to go to climb the list of the top-grossing documentaries of all time. "Never Say Never" is currently stalled out at the #3 position, around $5 million behind "March of the Penguins," according to Box Office Mojo, and well short of the all-time record held by Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which has taken in $119.1 million to date.
Bieber set off a classic MJ-style fan frenzy a few weeks ago when he visited Liverpool, England, for his world tour. And just a week later, he posed with his new wax figure at London's Madame Tussauds, checking off another item on the list of milestones to an MJ-like career.

Lady Gaga Debuts 'Glee' Clip From 'Born This Way' Episode

Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment.By James Dinh

"Glee" is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they'll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance.
Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they'll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer's hit "Born This Way."
Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment.
"Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance," he says.
Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don't accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing "Born This Way."
"We're going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We're going to perform her anthem to acceptance, 'Born This Way,' " he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause.
Back in January, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes. "I love that that song is [an] anthem," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song."

Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover

Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.By Gil Kaufman

Adam Lambert performs "Whole Lotta Love" on "American Idol" on Tuesday

Photo: R. Mickshaw/Getty Images/ Fox

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.

The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.

Justin Bieber In Talks To Co-Star In Ashton Kutcher Buddy Flick

Bieber would reportedly play younger version of Kutcher in 'What Would Kenny Do?'By Gil Kaufman

Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher

Photo: Mike Marsland/ Mike Coppola/ WireImage

Justin Bieber has already notched the third-highest-grossing documentary of all time with "Never Say Never," but now the teen titan is looking at branching out into scripted moves as well.
After his well-received turns on "CSI," the Los Angeles Times reports that Bieber is close to signing on to take the lead role in the buddy comedy "What Would Kenny Do?" opposite Ashton Kutcher. An anonymous source who was briefed on the project told the paper that the film delves into the relationship between a 17-year-old and his 30-something self, with the latter to be played by Kutcher, 33.
The movie, to be produced by Kutcher's Katalyst Entertainment and Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, will probably not get moving until next year because Bieber has touring commitments booked through 2012. Though the initial report said Bieber was "eyeing" the movie, an update posted late Wednesday clarified that the project has been under development for months "with Bieber both in mind and on board."
It wouldn't be the first time the dynamic duo has tried to hook up, coming on the heels of a reported meeting in January in which Kutcher discussed Bieber hosting a rebooted version of "Punk'd."
The "Kenny" script was originally described as an R-rated comedy about "a teenager who meets a hologram claiming to be the adult version of himself; the hologram then helps guide the teen through high school." It got a more PG-13 revision from "(500) Days of Summer" writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who had Kutcher's successful character going back in time to help the awkward present-day Bieber.

Linkin Park? U2? Ke$ha? Behind MTV's Musical March Madness Selection

With the tipoff of our tournament set for Monday, Bigger Than the Sound breaks down your favorite band's chances of busting the bracket.By James Montgomery

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington

Photo: Frank Hoensch/ Getty Images

Last year, when we launched the inaugural Musical March Madness tournament, we did it largely on a whim.
As I wrote when I revealed my original (handwritten) bracket, the basic idea was to combine my love of college basketball, gambling and rock music (and superfluous lists) into one magical event, and it really didn't matter that I hadn't figured out how bands would advance in the tournament or even what they'd get for winning. All I knew was that it seemed like a fun idea (especially since I didn't have anything else to write my column about that week) and that somewhere, there had to be someone who cared about these seemingly disparate things nearly as much as I did.

As it turned out, there were a lot of people who cared, and when it was all said and done — thanks to the efforts of a whole lot of folks, including Newsroom blog editor Kyle Anderson, who basically decided "You know what? People should vote on this!" — not only was Musical March Madness a certified success, but we somehow even managed to get an actual trophy to present to the winners, Coheed and Cambria, too. So, really, everybody won.
Of course, given the success of the original MMM, attention quickly shifted to the 2011 tournament. Last year, I basically just threw together a list of 64 bands (65, actually; who could forget the epic Against Me!/ Creed play-in battle?). For the 2011 tournament, however, I did research, monitored album sales and basically became a Selection Committee of one. And, yes, it took way longer than I ever could have imagined.
So, with the 2011 Musical March Madness set to tip off Monday — when we reveal our full bracket of 64 bands and launch voting in first-round matchups — I decided to pull back the curtain on that selection process. Some teams have all but locked up their spots in the 2011 tournament, while others still have some work to do. In the spirit of all things bracketological, here's my up-to-the-minute look at where your favorite bands stand for this year's MMM:
The #1 Seeds
The biggest bands in the land. Last year, I gave out #1's to Nickelback, Coldplay, Blink-182 and the Kings of Leon. Somewhat surprisingly, three-quarters of them ended up losing in the opening round of the tournament (only Blink survived, making it to the round of 32 before losing to 30 Seconds to Mars). Obviously, I overestimated the popularity of some of those acts, which means that, in 2011, to be a #1 seed, you have to have proven yourself as not only a rock-solid commodity, but an actual threat to win the championship too. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to have an album either in stores or coming soon. So here are my latest contenders for top seeds:
» Foo Fighters
» 30 Seconds to Mars
» Linkin Park
» My Chemical Romance
» Arcade Fire
» Vampire Weekend
» Muse
» The Black Keys
» Blink-182
» Radiohead
» Coldplay
» Mumford & Sons
The Foos have a hotly anticipated album coming down the pipeline, as does Coldplay. Are expectations enough to make them #1's? Or will the committee recognize the breakout success of the Black Keys, Muse and Mumford? Does a #1 album and a shocking Grammy win earn the Arcade Fire a top seed? Linkin Park and MCR both scuffed a bit with their latest albums, but does that matter, especially since they're both legacy acts with loyal fanbases (and, in the case of My Chem, are tournament-tested)? And will the committee ignore the fact that, by most accounts, Radiohead's latest was a bit of a letdown or that Blink-182 may never actually release their new album? As you can see, there are still plenty of questions left to be answered.
The Old Guard
Legacy acts with something left in the tank. In 2010, time-tested faves like Slipknot, the White Stripes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Pearl Jam, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band all got invites to the big dance based largely on reputation alone (just think of them as the Dukes or Kansases of MMM). Of course, nearly all of them got knocked off in the first round, which means that this time around, reputation isn't going to be enough to punch their tickets. Shoot, some of these acts aren't even around anymore, which means that some deck-shuffling is in order. Here are the established acts that are still fighting for their tournament lives:
» Green Day
» Dave Matthews Band
» U2
» Red Hot Chili Peppers
» Rage Against the Machine
» Kid Rock
» Pearl Jam
» R.E.M.
Some (like the Chili Peppers and U2) have announced new albums this year, while others (like DMB) are planning to take 2011 off entirely. Still, whatever their status may be, the old guard remain forces at the cash registers and on radio, even if their latest albums didn't exactly light the world on fire. And ignoring that entirely just isn't possible. So how does the committee decide which make the field of 64? Good question. I'm still trying to figure out the answer.
The New Blood
Upset-minded young guns. The 2010 MMM featured up-and-coming acts like the Young Veins, 3OH!3, Owl City and MGMT. One year later, none of them are even on the radar. Picking new bands for MMM is always a challenge, though in 2011, there seem to be a handful who have all but secured their spots in the tournament, thanks to their breakout successes. I'm talking about the likes of:
» Mumford & Sons
» Florence and the Machine
» The Black Keys
» Cage the Elephant
» Sleigh Bells
» Adele
If the tournament started today, all of the above have been in (and some may even earn high seeds). But do any of them have enough to actually win the tournament? We'll just have to wait and see.
The Bracket Busters
Bands with solid, if not spectacular, résumés (weak out-of-conference schedules, etc.). Last year, this included eventual champs Coheed and Cambria, Final Four acts like Tokio Hotel, Elite Eight bands like Panic! at the Disco and Owl City, and even Patrick Stump, who rumbled all the way to the Sweet 16. In other words, the 2011 champion could very well come from this group. Here's my list of under-the-radar threats:
» Panic! (once again)
» Weezer
» The Decemberists
» Cake
» Paramore
» Avril Lavigne
» Crystal Bowersox
» Adam Lambert
» Death Cab for Cutie
» All Time Low
Two of the above — Cake and the Decemberists — have recent #1 debuts under their belts, while others have new albums on the horizon (DCFC, ATL, Avril). Others, like Bowersox and Lambert (who made the Sweet 16 last year), command insane fanbases, which make them dangerous on any day. Lavigne and ATL still have some work to do, but I'd consider all of the acts I just mentioned as safe for now.
The Bubble Bands
On-the-verge acts that need a little help to make it in. Maybe they win their conference championship, or maybe they PayPal the selection committee some cash, but these are the bands on the brink. In 2010, that included Panic! (no new album or single), the Gaslight Anthem (up-and-comers just learning to play together) and Coheed (largely ignored by mainstream radio). Most of those bands managed to do quite well in the tournament, while others, like Hollywood Undead, Lil Wayne, Them Crooked Vultures and the National, all flamed out in the tournament's opening round. Somewhat fittingly, it's a real feast-or-famine type of thing. Here's my updated list of bubble bands:
» Cobra Starship
» Ke$ha
» Tokio Hotel
» MGMT
» Train
» Adele
» Bret Michaels
» Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
» Taylor Swift
Right off the bat, neither Ke$ha nor Swift really rock (though Ke$h does use Jack Daniels as mouthwash), which makes them long shots. Tokio Hotel have done next to nothing since last year's tournament, but was their success enough to earn them a spot this year? Bret Michaels is basically indestructible at this point, so I'd consider him a lock. Cobra Starship are largely dormant but command a big enough fanbase to warrant consideration. MGMT's last album stiffed in spectacular fashion, which places them squarely on the soapy surface of the bubble.
So, will your favorite band make the cut for the 2011 Musical March Madness tournament? As you can see, the Selection Committee still has plenty of work to do — which means that, between now and Monday, I'll be burning the midnight oil, busting out the brackets and then re-busting them once again. It'll be a chore, but I bet it will be worth it. And I hope you'll be along for the ride. Your band needs you, after all.
MTV's 2011 Musical March Madness Tournament begins Monday, March 14, when we reveal the full field of 64 bands that will battle for the championship. Winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act makes the cut, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM — but get ready, it's gonna be a war.

Dumb Celeb Quote of the Week: Jennifer Lopez

Yay! It’s Friday! So who does the Dumb Celeb Quote of the Week belong to today? It’s the beautiful Jennifer Lopez! What did she have to say? There never seems to be a dull moment on American Idol this season. Not only for our contestants but for the judges as well. So what exactly did J Lo say this week? Casey Abrams is definitely one cool cat. In fact, he may be one of the coolest! With Abrams’ killer performance of Maroon Five’s Harder to Breathe this week, not only was it entertaining, but one unforgettable, sneaky, and spontaneous move on his part. Without further a due, what kind of feedback did Miss Jennifer give on Casey’s behalf? “Casey’s got soft lips.” That pretty much sums it up, my friends! J Lo is definitely digging Casey’s Casey-isms. I’d like to know…what is it that makes him so lovable? Is it his scraggly beard? Or how about his draggy style? No, it’s gotta be the way he grits his teeth when he sings, right? Regardless of what it is, America loves him! On a different note, last night was eliminations, and we had to say goodbye to yet another fan favorite. [...]

Christina Aguilera & 'The Voice' Coaches' "Crazy" Performance!

If you weren't already psyched to watch The Voice, this little video clip is about to change your mind.
The singing competition's superstar coaches -- Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green -- come together on stage to perform a rockin' rendition of Green's "Crazy" on the premiere episode. And, even if none of the contestants have any talent, it would still be worth it to watch just for this performance.
But we doubt that's the case!
The Voice premieres on April 26 at 9 p.m. on NBC, but check out the crazy clip here:

Royal Wedding Guest List

The names of some high-profile people set to attend the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton already have leaked out, but the official guest list has just now been released by Clarence House.
Among the celebs are David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, singer Joss Stone, director (and Madonna ex) Guy Ritchie, Mr. Bean actor Rowan Atkinson (a friend of Prince Charles), Mario Testino, the photographer who snapped the couple's official engagement photos and Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe.
In total, about 1,900 people have been invited to the service at Westminster Abbey, with 650 invited to a lunchtime reception at Buckingham Palace given by Queen Elizabeth II, and about 300 asked to attend the dinner at Buckingham Palace given by Prince Charles.
Most of the wedding guests -- more than 1,000 -- are family and friends of the prince and princess-to-be's with the rest of the attendees comprising of people from various aspects of their lives: more than 50 members of the royal family; more than 40 members of foreign royal families; more than 200 members of government, parliament and diplomatic corps; about 80 guests drawn from Prince William’s charities, including some people who are not in senior positions but who William has known for some time; 60 governors-general and realm prime ministers; 30 members of the military as well as religious leaders and members of the royal household.
As expected, Prince Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson did not get an invite, though their daughters, princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, will be there, along with Britain's prime minister David Cameron and his wife, as well as the sisters and brother of Lady Diana Spencer, the prince's mother, and other members of the Spencer family.
Among the more personal guests will be Holly Dyer, Susie Roberts and John Major. Dyer's sister Joanna, a friend of the prince's and a 2nd lieutenant in the British Army, was killed by a bomb in Iraq in 2007, while Roberts' husband, Major Alexis Roberts, was killed in Afghanistan in 2007 and was the royal’s platoon commander at Sandhurst. Meanwhile, former prime minister Major was appointed a guardian to princes William and Harry after the death of Princess Diana in 1997, with responsibility for legal and administrative matters.
Clarence House did not release the names of every person on the list, and among those not officially named but expected to be there are the former flames of the royal and Middleton.
Notable for their absence are such people as President and Mrs. Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, though the wedding is not officially a formal state occasion so does not require the inclusion of world leaders.
The wedding will begin at 11 a.m. London time April 29 and you can follow events as they unfold by joining iVillage's live wedding chat.
